I received a message from Stan Fulham this morning (Saturday October 23, 2010). Stan had commented on a posting I placed on Facebook.com about an Alfred Lambremont Webre article: Exopolitics founder: ‘Oct 13 2010 NYC UFO sightings confirm Exopolitics model.’

Stan was following up on his prediction concerning October 13 and the decloaking of UFOs over major cities worldwide. And his new prediction is truly remarkable!

Stan Fulham is the retired NORAD officer who claims to have been channeling/communicating with an extraterrestrial group composed of 40,000 “dimensional souls”. Stan claimed that this group conveyed the message that a fleet of UFOs would appear over “earth’s principle cities” on or about October 13, 2010!

He stated that the event was “to be the first in a series intended to avert a planetary catastrophe resulting from increasing levels of carbon-dioxide in the earth’s atmosphere dangerously approaching a ‘critical mass’”.

Many UFO experts, analysts and enthusiasts claim that Stan’s predictions occurred as advertised. Indeed, the Canadian former NORAD officer seems to have hit a homerun with this prediction. Although I have been trained as a skeptic and a believer in science, something so unusual happened this new year that I believe it must be an omen. On December 21st a group of shamans held a ceremony by a lake in the Philippines that locals believe to be the home of a goddess. The Shamans, including a revered Maori lady, also believed this lake to be a portal to other dimensions. Whatever the case, there was heavy rain and thick cloud cover as the group headed to the lake for a ceremony to mark a change in how Western civilization behaves. When we arrived at the lake suddenly an area of blue sky appeared immediately above us. All around there was still heavy cloud cover and rain. However, directly over our heads, in the middle of the circle of blue sky there was a new moon. Then on new year’s eve the world experienced an unheralded but precious event, a blue moon on new year’s eve in the West and a blue moon on new year’s day in Asia. A blue moon means a second full moon in one month. A full moon on new year’s eve happens only once in every two decades or so. For both to coincide is something that only happens once in many centuries. Thus I believe we have had a very auspicious beginning to 2010, the Year of the Tiger.

It is interesting to note that while the group of Shamans and elders was holding their ceremony to mark the clean-up of the polluted lake, Federal Reserve Board agents were in the Philippines trying to cash $250 billion worth of gold-backed bonds in a desperate effort to keep their fraudulent institution afloat. The bonds are fake and they would not be allowed to cash them even if they were real.

There was also a lot of consternation and angst in the Japanese secret government after it was revealed the Emperor went to Washington in an effort to get cash to finance the climate change fraud in Copenhagen. George Soros was almost certainly counting on this money when he offered $100 billion in “climate change loans” to developing countries. When Black Dragon Society members in Washington froze the funds, the Emperor was forced to confess to the Chinese vice-President that he had returned empty handed.

So now China has contacted the Black Dragon Society with promises to help finance a campaign to deal with the real problems facing this world: poverty, war and the destruction of Eco-systems.

The Black Dragon Society was also contacted by the Kokuryu-Kai (the name translates as the Black Dragon Society) which is run by the descendants and spiritual descendants of the founders of the original Black Dragon Society. We explained to them that there was no sense fighting over a name. We explained to them that when I was inducted into the Red and the Green I was asked to start a Western version of that society.

The Western group that sprang up spontaneously across the world has very simple rules: we agree to work together towards shared goals and we agree to protect each other if attacked. This Western group is now capable of mobilizing the British Empire, the Vatican, the Muslim world and much of the US military/intelligence establishment.

We explained to the Kokuryu-Kai and the Chinese that the West would never submit itself to rule from the East and likewise the East should never submit itself to rule from the West. Instead we proposed a 50/50 partnership between East and West. There will be many key meetings in January to iron out the details.

There are now several groups with active plans for implementing a new paradigm to replace the one of endless war and genocide being pursued by the criminals who have taken over Western civilization.

One group centered on the British empire would like to begin construction of massive free energy facilities to remove salt from sea-water and use the resulting fresh water to turn the deserts green. This group is allying itself with the Middle Eastern monarchies and plans to work simultaneously in Australia and the Arabian peninsula.

This group also wants to pay the world’s deep sea fishing fleets to stop all fishing for two or three years in order to allow the oceans to replenish themselves.

A different group based in Australia but with powerful connections throughout the G7 proposes turning the deserts green by using etheric weather engineering technology. They also plan to start cleaning up the world’s most polluted sites using zeolite, an abundant mineral that absorbs toxic substances and prevents them from interacting with the environment in a harmful manner. They also have free energy technology.

A third group based on the US military-intelligence establishment proposes a 5-year swords to plowshares transformation of the Pentagon. This group has the potential to develop the over 6,000 patents that have hitherto been suppressed for “national security” reasons. One technology they possess is anti-gravity. This would make automobiles obsolete and allow roadways to be transformed into gardens.

They claim to control technology that allows the creation of portals into other dimensions. They claim (we have not seen proof but have heard this from many credible eye-witnesses) that many so-called underground bases around the world are actual such portals. Hopefully we will soon be able to see if this is true. If so the implications are more than mind-boggling.

This group will no doubt join forces with the various “programs” and trusts that have been fighting the Federal Reserve Board for decades.

A fourth group linking the Vatican and Russia sent us the following proposal:

We are working with leading world scientists from top prestigious institutions in Russia, they are developing many innovations in the fields of energy generating (heat and/or electricity) using water as fuel, manufacturing new elements and isotopes from cheap materials, converting radioactive materials (waste) into stable condition, desalinating sea water to produce fresh water without any salted residuals, transmutation of poisonous materials into inert materials, municipal waste recycling, motors of higher power at lower consumption of electricity, special converters and transformers, earthquake prediction, New Approach Towards Understanding Origination of Matter and Energy in Universe from vacuum, many technologies for the nuclear energy industry that will be the top energy by 2050 according to EDF, and much more.

There are many technologies/projects in need of investment that are on the market, some that are about to enter in the market and some that need more years of investigation. At any time it can be arranged a meeting in the several prestigious institutions in Moscow or the Officials/scientists can go to Japan to make the presentations.

Then there is a fifth group based in Japan that is planning to build a major university/research and martial arts center north of Tokyo. This group plans to transform the Japanese right/wing and yakuza establishment into a benevolent society that will always act in defense of the weak and the down-trodden. The Chinese have already agreed to help this group.

Of course the new financial system has to be put fully online for all of these groups to get started with their plans. This in return requires the dismantling of the Federal Reserve Board and the corrupt Washington D.C. corporation.

On this end we are hearing from multiple sources that a special Interpol force in the US has begun arresting or killing all those who are still trying to revive the old financial system. This may have to do with why Obama is looking so old and haggard after his “holiday” in Hawaii.

There are several key settlement dates in January that may finally force the corporate propaganda media in the West to start revealing the truth. We will know the turning point has been reached when the brainwashed sector of Western society is finally told the truth by their corporate overlords. The arrest or judicial killing of CIA Director Panetta would be a very good indication of change.

Also, we need to see what happens when the financial markets open for the new calendar year. A member of the British royal family says there is a strong chance a new currency to replace the US dollar may be announced as early as January 6th.

The Black Dragon Society has also made the following proposals to the Japanese government and the Chinese Red and Green. First we support the Chinese plan to create an entirely new United Nations and base it in Laos. Second we believe that a Chinese dominated replacement for the World Bank should be set up in Hong Kong. In parallel to that, we propose setting up a G8-dominated world economic planning agency in Osaka. After that, all US dollars held outside of the US should be renamed Hong Kong dollars (or whatever) and put under the control of these three institutions.

Existing institutions like the World Bank and the BIS can continue their operations but they will have to start generating their own savings and become self-financing if they are to survive.

The various commodities exchanges and stock markets will also have to thoroughly audited and the systematic fraud they have allowed to take place needs to be exposed. This process has already begun with the Chinese refusing to honor fraudulent contracts with various US and European based financial institutions.

It is also important to set up a South African style truth and reconciliation committee to begin the process of uncovering the secret government that has been manipulating humanity for centuries. Much of our history and even our science is going to have to be rewritten and retold.

In any case, we believe the great global turning point many predict will happen in 2012 will actually begin this year. We are headed into uncharted waters but the prospects are bright indeed.

Dear Ones, as we have told you, the world remakes itself now and whether or not humanity in micro or macro is supportive of expansive change or against it, it is truly a moot point as the inertia of time-chronology speeds past more quickly today than it did yesterday in linear sequence. Accordingly will 2011 impel the expedition of light acceleration and your lucid interpretation of consciousness. With this surge your cognitive expression of life, will in-kind shift into higher tempo. You see, all is quickening, time is accelerating as the Ascension draws nigh. So as time reshapes itself it will also reshape the experience of mankind, of visible and invisible forces of nature and that of the face of the Earth itself.

Each Moment Matters
Masters, it is so important that each of you understand and fully realize how truly important each moment you live in these accelerated energies is to the Cosmos, the New Earth and to you. Indeed there is a new energy on this planet, and this energy seeks to now further activate your awareness and light quotient. Many of you still do not realize that the work you have done on both sides of the veil over the past 25 years has changed the earth you were born on into a completely different frequency and paradigm.
You are responsible for it, and mankind does not yet comprehend what you have done or own the credit of this achievement. Masters what you have done is the very reason many of you are now reading these words that are sent from another dimension.
And so allow me to honor you as we speak of the coming year, for you have grown much stronger than you realize.

You have taken a quantum leap….and regardless of the calendar days of 2011, what lies ahead of you is indeed a leap year!
2011 The Year Ahead
And so we speak of 2011. Indeed it is an exciting year of invigorated time, and will be a period of quickening.

But we tell you Dear Ones, 2011 will not be an easier energy than was 2010, in fact it will be amped a notch or two higher. But fear not, most of you on the path, will find it much easier to manage.

Now, 2011 contains within it 12 of the extremely potent energy amplifications phases that you are becoming more accustomed to, but understand that these magnifications are part and parcel of your accelerated growth process.

Indeed you must learn to operate at higher frequency, and so the years of the Trinity Triad, 2010, 2011 and 2012, are in a sense a rigorous training program that will allow you to strengthen and increase your auric fields as the ground-zero of the Ascension nears.

Trinity Triad – Jacobs Ladder
In truth the energies of the Trinity Triad are merged in one program, and as such from our perspective the events of 2010, 2011, and 2012 are part of the same process of the Ascension. It is our purpose here to focus on the aspects of 2011 that lie so near to your unfolding.
Masters, the heralded Ascension it is not an abstruse complexity of prophetic biblical script, but rather a natural and requisite expression of accelerating planetary consciousness.

It is Jacobs’s ladder, and Dear ones, when you are on a ladder; you are ascending, descending or standing still. It is one of the three you see. It is always so. And I Metatron tell you that you are moving up, whether you see it or not, mankind is ascending.

As such, all of you on the earth-plane are now within the field of an incredible crystalline energy. The result is that your own auric fields and Mer-Ka-Na Light Bodies are, through induction, becoming extreme energy in motion. It is energy as desire expressing itself and so your work calls forth now an even finer frequency. Imagine that if you will take vitamins for your physical body they must be such that they can be absorbed by the body to generate wellness, well being, and better health.

And so it is the same with the Crystalline Transition, its frequencies and energies are indeed vitamins of light expansion for the light body.
The crystalline resonance must now surround you in ways that you can absorb their pristine symmetries into your energy fields, transferring them, converting them, and amplifying them into your own work, into your desires, into your fulfillment and into all ways that touch earth and humanity.

Alpha & Omega
So these words are brought to you from the alpha and omega into the center of your new being. These symmetries of crystalline coherent light are expressed to you, projected for you from the center of my being so that they will touch you energetically and so re-create themselves fortuitously in the days and weeks that come forward in 2011 and 2012. For within these time-sequences the 144-Grid completes into full conscious projection, and that projection is indeed a tool of and for your own expansion. Eclipses of 2011

In addition, 2011 will have an extremely rare aggregation of complex coded eclipses. 2011- Sacred Sites as Tuning Forks
During the Equinoxes of 2011, specific points on the Earth will be portals of Transduction, indeed these will become instruments of transducing the faster speed of light into quickening time on the Earth.

The Grid Points, power nodes, sacred sites, phi complexes and portals that dot the planet in specific patterns and specific purpose are the distribution mechanisms of the higher energy required to up shift the resonant frequency pulse of your planet.

They are tuning forks, inspired by perfection of First Cause. These exude the energy of ‘home’, of well-being, and those of you who enter into them in spiritual intent recognize this immediately.

Accordingly one cannot help but want to be within them and absorb the pattern emitted within such areas in order to grow into and share the expansion of perfection.
Those who dedicate themselves to this tuning can experience a nearness to Source that they feel is less available to them elsewhere. But the truth is that these fine-tuned energies are osmotic frequencial schools, and once absorbed, once matriculated, the energy is retained within the established individuals Mer-Ka-Na.

Many areas on the planet have then already ascended, via portal-lattices that may be called the stairways to heaven, and other areas require a bit more work. This clearing and coding will be up shifted.

Specific areas that are a bit denser now require more work to clear, and as a tertiary effect of the March 2011 Cosmic Trigger and harmonic crysto-magnetic code awakening, the pyramidal portals will bring in the pristine lighter energy for that specific purpose.

Potent Entry into 2011
Tighten you seat belts Masters! On December 21st of 2010, a full moon lunar eclipse will occur on the Solstice. This extreme double edged surge will be the entry into 2011 and is a taste of what is to come in the year ahead! This will create a mighty blast of high frequency energy that will span the planet and carry forward into a solar eclipse occurring on January 4th of 2011. This will be a powerful but supremely benevolent energy.

The 11-11-11
The validity of the Triple Date Portals is evidenced in myriad ways. The TPD points, which we shared with you a decade ago, are hologramic insertions that effect the crystalline transformation of the planet through the crystalline grid. The point of initial surge is the Crystal Vortex of Arkansas.

On the 9-9-9 your media reported via local radio that an unusual green fog had formed over Mt Magazine as the Emerald Master Crystal flashed into activation from a long dormancy. The Crystal created the mist, and it not only covered the mountain, it was viewed from satellites. Its energy also short circuited the electrical grid in the area for a short period.
On the 10-10-10 earthquakes took place in areas of Arkansas where they had not been recorded before. And these quakes were unique in other ways, the usual ‘white-out’ in terms of the frequencial ‘song’ of the Schumann Resonace that precedes seismic releases did not occur, and the animals were not afraid. It was the Crystal Activations,Dear Ones, these were caused by the pulse of the Master Crystal Activations beneath the massive chasms of the Crystal Vortex. It is quite true, quite real. and their energy is magnificent.

We tell you that on the 11-11-11 another validation will occur.
The Triple-Date Portal of November 2011 will be perhaps the most potent singular day of the year. Masses of humanity will form the human grid and tie into the Cosmic Energy that is amassed in the final stages of activating the 144-Crystal Grid. On the 11-11-11 the Atlantean Master Crystals will further activate with the initial awakening of the Crystal of Multidimensional Communication in the Crystal Vortex.
This awakening will sequentially recode the 12 Golden Sun Disc around the planet.
These discs are being activated into twelve helix spirals. They are emitting a divine energy of zero field, of pure love, unconditional love, a light-code that can only exist in the 5th dimension and above. On the 11-11-11 the Sun Disc of the Crystal Vortex will be activated beneath the area of Pinnacle Mountain in Arkansas, and this will complete the energy of the Arkansas Vortex and then network the new DNA codes across the planet.

The Golden Sun Discs are the DNA, the blue print for the unified crystalline field in the Crystalline Transition of the planet. Indeed these are being reprogrammed by and within the Crystalline 144 Grid!

The Golden Sun Disc discs will emit a 12-strand helix, in a spiraling energy that will serve, as the prototype of the DNA for the crystalline aspect through the 144-Grid. Indeed, they are correspondences to the ability of the Earth to regenerate and reform itself, becoming in aspect the DNA pattern or blueprint of the New Earth. They are energetic spirals. Now as your Ascension completes itself, you will have greater access to the multi dimensional aspects of yourselves. In truth, for some of you, the Ascension has, for the most part, already occurred, in terms of multidimensionality. Do you understand?
The New Firmament Begins in the 2011 Trinity Triad
So we tell you that as the grids grow into completion that beyond the 144 Crystalline Geometry will be the Polyhedron 120 Geodesic sphere. This begins formulating in 2011, initiates in 2012, and completes in the year of 2024. While multidimensional access will be fully achieved within the 144- Crystalline grid in 2012, the new firmament is spawned thru its completion.
Consider the geometric-crystalline completion of the geodesic grids as a flower achieving full bloom, at which point a cosmic pollination will occur and an energetic seed- field will come into effect.

You see the very completion of the perfect geometric form germinates a new field from its unified perfection…and that field may be called the (new) Crystalline Firmament.
It will emerge as two great elliptical bands of energy that intersect at 90-degree angles around the planet.

One will carry the color and essence of platinum, the other of gold. One will be crysto- electrical in nature the other crysto-magnetic. Their energies will circulate in modulated opposition, and the field between the two will encompass the planet in a spherical manner.
And from this a conscious self-aware field of the OMM WAVE circumnavigates the planet to allow for an even greater perfection of the Earth. This Crystalline Firmament will allow for what was termed by the ancients as the 1000 years of peace.. The crysto-electromagnetics of the planet will be in optimal balance.
Now the Earth and Human Kind will have need for the Crystalline Firmament, and will call it forth. It will assist in many roles, perhaps more than you imagine.

QUESTION: Masters, my world is going upside down at the moment. Should I listen to my inner self and do what many think is wrong? Or should I do what is appropriate? My inner voice is blocked by something or someone. Why is it this way? Have I made up my mind correctly—even if I will hurt many people whom I care about? I´m lost! ~Niina, Finland

ANSWER: The question to ask yourself is whom do you want to be responsible for your life and the way you live it? If the answer is anybody but you, and that “they” know what is right for you better than you could possibly know, then you will listen to all those “other” people. If you are concerned with living your own life, following your own life lessons, then only your inner self can provide the answers for you.

Your inner voice may seem difficult to hear because you have your ears trained on all the people around you, and it is almost impossible to filter out their voices to be able to hear your own. You were raised to listen to parents, teachers, and authority figures; then you began soliciting help from friends, resulting in a pattern of living your life by committee. To advance along your path you must step up and assume total responsibility for your decisions.

It is a fact of the universe that people can be hurt only if they allow themselves to be hurt. Your friends will only be hurt if they have expectations based upon what they want you to do. That’s their problem, not yours. You are not responsible for their unreasonable desires. Your life is your responsibility; their disappointments are theirs alone.

Your friends are going to react, whatever you do. The important thing is that you feel comfortable with your decision, based upon your internal senses only. If anyone complains about your choices, explain that is exactly what they are—your choices, and you have done what you feel is best for you. No one can argue with your feelings because they cannot get inside your body and feel what you feel.

Should we just sit back?

QUESTION: Masters, if I have understood your teachings right, and the Earth is specifically created as a realm in which to experience the negative, is there any use for human beings to try to improve conditions here, by dedicating their life, for instance, to removing the suffering of others, since this would appear to be going against the very reason for their and the Earth’s existence in the first place, and would negate their purpose for being here? ~David, UK

ANSWER: There are all different kinds of lessons that a soul may choose to experience on Earth. Yes, Earth is the only planet that has a dual energy setup, with both negative and positive conditions. Our lessons appear as negative energies and it is for the soul to determine how to deal with those situations and make them into positive experiences to learn about themselves and their issues—if they can.

Taking your question, it would seem, for example, to imply that even a soul who chooses to be a doctor is interfering with the patient’s life lessons. But life is much more complicated than that. The doctor cannot go out and drag in patients off the street and force them to receive medical treatment. All healing has to do not only with the actions of the healer, but with the intentions of the patient as well. If people do not want to be healed they will find a way to remain out of balance or at dis-ease with their body. Part of their lesson may be to acknowledge that they need the help of another. So, if people realize why they are suffering from a condition, they can go and seek out a healer who can assist in remedying the state.

In another example, good Samaritans might go to countries and help bring clean water to the people. After they leave, the inhabitants must maintain the water system; their lesson may be to take care of themselves.

Only in a situation where people are trying to force their beliefs and lifestyle on others can there be a case of interference. But don’t forget freedom of choice—the recipients can always ignore the offered help. In a case where souls may be diverted away from their lesson by the assistance of others, they will have the ability to try again to learn the lesson in that same lifetime or another.

Death, Hell, and God

QUESTION: Masters, many spiritual people talk about the place we go when we die as a sort of spiritual “refuel and refresh” stop before moving on to our next lives. I’d like to ask if in fact there is a hell and, most importantly, whether a single, omnipotent “God” entity exists. ~Zoe, Malaysia

ANSWER: Your questions show a state of confusion as the first two are contradictory. By religious definition hell is definitely not a place for rest and relaxation. But is there a place called hell? No. Is the description of hell synonymous with a condition wherein a soul feels tormented and inconsolable? Absolutely! And where such a place exists is none other than the planet under your feet.

Earth is a place of duality, where everything has a polar opposite. For every fantastically marvelous feeling there is an equally strong negative feeling of devastation and suffering. Once the soul leaves its body here (or, in other words, dies), it leaves this negative space and enters a place of unconditional love where no negativity exists. A soul may experience what has been referred to as hell while living on Earth, but once it leaves Earth it has a place (that some call “heaven”) where judgment does not exist and where everything is unconditional love.

The term “God” has become associated with the image of a man dressed all in white with long hair and a beard who is the arbiter of judgment for all souls. Judgment can only exist in a place where there is right and wrong or positive and negative. Since those conditions only exist on planet Earth, a god could only exist there.

Is there a single divine entity? No. Is there a force in the universe that is omnipotent? Yes. This is the universal energy that encompasses all that is. You and all individual souls broke off from this energy, remain a part of it, commune with it, and re-unite with it when desired. This can occur at any time the soul is not contained in a body shell.

TIME TRAVELER CAUGHT ON FILM IN 1928 USING A CELL PHONE?

Has a time traveler been caught on film in 1928 using a cell phone prior to the opening of a Charlie Chaplin film premiere? It would appear that this is the case, the footage in question shows a heavy set women walking down the street speaking into a device that strikingly resembles a cellular phone. This would be remarkable for a variety of reasons firstly to confirm something had taken place in proving that the possibility of time travel could exist, or that some kind of early technology unseen by many was available to the super rich well before many had taken notice

The effort to disconnect us from our ‘true’ selves continues… I remember hearing Jaron Lanier speak a number of years ago when I was attending UC Santa Cruz. While I had misgivings about his message even then; his direct impact on the current paradigm is undeniable. For better and worse.

**On the Threshold of the Avatar Era**

In a garage in Palo Alto, Calif., in the 1980s, some friends and I were the first humans to experience becoming avatars—that is, movable representations of ourselves in cyberspace. Amazingly, all these years later, almost no one else has been able to experience a hint of what will be one of the great cognitive adventures of this century.

It has been possible for some years for visitors to theme parks to try out virtual-reality “rides,” but these don’t capture the experience. Becoming an avatar in virtual reality, as a full-bodied human (or even nonhuman), has the potential to be vastly more interesting and important than one would expect from a technological amusement. What is really going on is the opening up of a new frontier of human potential, which can be called “somatic cognition”—somatic meaning “of the body.”

I first became aware of somatic cognition while learning to improvise music at a piano. After enough practice, a moment comes when you notice that your hands have solved complicated puzzles of voice and harmony faster than your conscious mind can keep up. Fine basketball players, surgeons and pilots report similar moments.

In such cases, the human body is extended by physical objects that map body motion into a theater of thought and strategy not usually available to us. Objects like a basketball, a jet or a piano play a role in somatic cognition that is similar to the role of words in conscious thought.

The first hint that avatars could become the ultimate somatic objects came to me in the form of a software bug in that Palo Alto garage. I was inhabiting a humanoid avatar, but my hand was gigantic by accident. I bent my fingers and was suddenly engulfed by my fingertip.

The surprise was that I could still operate a huge hand effectively. This led to a question: How strange could an avatar get before a person could no longer control it?

The answer turns out to be an even bigger surprise. People can inhabit awfully odd avatars. One of the early avatars was a lobster—a creature with more limbs than a human. By mapping values from body poses, it turns out people can learn to inhabit other bodies not just with oddly shaped limbs, or limbs attached in unfamiliar places, but even bodies with different numbers of limbs.

This phenomenon is called “homuncular flexibility.” The homunculus is the mapping of the body into the motor cortex, which is a portion of the brain located approximately under the portion of the scalp that would be occupied by a Mohawk hairdo.

That the mapping of the homunculus could be so flexible as to adapt to non-human bodies was initially a shock, but a delightful one. The sensation of inhabiting a nonhuman avatar is a new kind of pleasure. Think about what it would be like to wear wonderful clothing, combined with driving a superb vehicle, combined with mastering an extraordinary physical skill. It is like all those things together, but more expressive.

When we can successfully inhabit a nonhuman avatar, we are exploring not only the brain’s deep history, but also the potential far future of all the creatures for which it is preadapted—what might happen in hundreds of millions of years. Becoming an avatar is a form of extreme time travel for the brain.

One of the principal impediments to becoming an avatar in full has been the physical instrumentation. For many years, you’ve had to put on a special body suit.

But at long last, it has recently become possible to measure what the human body is doing with a specialized camera, so that the body can instantly be mapped to an avatar without donning instrumented tights. The first example will be available to consumers this year: the Kinect camera for Microsoft’s Xbox. (Full disclosure: I do my work at Microsoft Research, which produced Kinect.)

As has always been the case for virtual reality, I expect the revelation of its true potential to take place gradually. The early years of popular access to avatar tracking will almost certainly not spark radical exploration of somatic cognition. Instead, people will turn into merely human avatars for playing sports, hunting dragons, settling into yoga poses and so on.

But then what? My favorite experiment so far involved turning elementary-school kids into the things they were studying.

Some were turned into molecules, dancing and squirming to dock with other molecules. In this case the molecule serves the role of the piano, and instead of harmony puzzles, you are learning chemistry. Somatic cognition offers an overwhelming emotional appeal for education, because it leverages vanity. You become the thing you are studying. Your sensory motor loop is modified to incorporate the logic of a science, and you develop body intuition about that logic.

No one knows how big a deal avatar-directed cognition will be. Will students routinely dance to learn chemistry in the future? Quite possibly. A student might also become a triangle to learn trigonometry, or a strand of DNA to learn about biology. Will professional nanotechnology engineers become molecular structures in order to refine them? Once again, it seems quite possible.

A natural question to ask is whether somatic cognition could do for the Internet what visual computing did for individual devices. For instance, could you map your body into your Facebook preferences, so that you could dance in order to set them (finally making them intuitive)?

There are vast problems to solve before we can see how far the somatic frontier of human cognition can go. It will be painfully slow work at times, but it is possible that we are waking up a huge part of ourselves that will expand what it means to think. What could be a lovelier adventure?
